Importance of GPP / Conditioning
The importance of General Physical Preparedness (GPP) or, for a better term, conditioning The importance of General Physical Preparedness (GPP), also known as conditioning, cannot be overstated. Adding this work into your routine can be a tremendous help for controlling body fat, increasing cardiovascular health, recovery, and improving muscle mass. In addition, GPP and conditioning can also help improve your joint health and prepare you for an upcoming competition.
If you have competed with very few or many competitors, you probably noticed the day went very quickly with little time to recover or dragged on forever. Either of these situations can be very taxing. In both of these instances, GPP and conditioning can help us maintain higher levels of preparation for either direction the competition goes.
GPP and conditioning are the baselines for athleticism. It allows you to be the best prepared for whatever may come your way. If you have a high level of GPP and conditioning, it will enable you to play harder and longer without losing your strength and speed. Conversely, if you had a lower level, it would leave you winded and gassed, struggling to maintain any strength level.
Let us know if you need some help adding GPP/conditioning work into your daily routine!
