Trusting Your Program

Trusting Your Program

It’s easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated when you’re trying to create your training program. We create something, get started, then change directions completely. However, hopping programs for less than three months does not allow our bodies to develop and use the program to the best of its purpose. Changing programs quickly can cause your progress to stall or even decline.

One of the essential parts of training is trusting the process. We learn about our body and what works for it as we train. There will be hurdles to overcome when you start a new program for most people. However, by sticking through the first few weeks, you can work out the kinks and adjust as needed according to the program type.

The takeaway from this is to pick a program and stick with it for an entire training cycle (unless there are specific medical reasons). There's a lot out there, and it can be confusing or frustrating to think you may be missing out on the next best thing. However, jumping to a new plan does not give our bodies the chance to complete the process and change as the program would intend it to.

If you're stuck trying to figure out which program is best for you, keep an eye out for our Coaches' Corner videos this month because we will be going over the top 4 programming styles for powerlifting.
